Daylight Basement Art Studio

• Large daylight basement originally used as a gym remodeled into light, bright, warm and inspiring space to create art in various mediums

  1. Added wall between studio and existing basement to help define the space and to provide an area to incorporate storage areas for art books and compact discs

  2. 2 large windows added to the room provide an abundance of natural light

• Built large, lighted display case outside studio to store art books and display pottery and other pieces

• Custom built in cabinetry, cd storage, and painting/art supply storage inside studio provide ample space to house existing art works and easy access to an opera lover’s collection of music

• Cork flooring gives a warm feeling, both aesthetically and thermally, over the concrete floors beneath

• A plethora of new lights, with incandescent, fluorescent, and halogen fixtures and bulbs, provides great lighting from all angles to showcase art and to eliminate shadows while working

•Recycled content porcelain tile countertop easy to keep clean

•Added utility sink and faucet indispensable for keeping brushes and other tools clean and functional

•Client-built shoji screen will eventually finish off the space and complement existing woodwork
